Made in/for Africa
Tja das Thema kam vor ein paar Tagen auch mal auf. Vielleicht wäre es an der Zeit alte Qualitätsmerkmale wie “wasserdicht, staubdicht, Made in Germany, Made in USA, …” mal zu vereinheitlichen hehe. Denn eine Kamera die schon beim Surfen und anderen Sportarten dabei war, wasserdicht und sonstwas alles ist und alles tadellos überlebt hat, hat hier in Africa nur ca. 2 Wochen durchgehalten. Ich wette viele die schon Mal hier waren würden sich viel mehr über ein Label “Made for Africa” oder sowas freuen. Natürlich nur wenn es dafür dann auch die nötige Garantie und so gibt hehe.
Well a few days ago we spoke about an interesting matter. Usually when you go shopping für stuff that should last a while you look for things that promise quality. Labels like “Made in Germany” or “Made in USA” are pretty popular because people think they stand for long lasting quality products. Well I’m not so sure if this is still the case. Others look for features like “waterproof” or “dustproof”. What about a new quality assurance “Made for Africa”. Definitely people that already have been here would likely buy these products because for example a camera which was promised to be water and dust proof, which has survived surfing and other activities without problems, lasted only about two weeks here in Africa…
Eine andere Innovation wäre “Made in Africa”. Dazu zählt z.B diese Leiter hier. In Europa habe ich so ein Modell noch nie gesehen. Es hat Vor- und Nachteile wenn man sie mit den normalen Leitern vergleicht. Für bestimmte Arbeiten ist die afrikanische Version aber auf jeden Fall vorzuziehen. Sie steht auf jeden Fall bombenfest. Braucht halt etwas mehr Platz und für mehr als 5m oder so wird es langsam kompliziert, sonst aber tadellos.
Another interesting label would be “Made in Africa”. Probably it already exists but I would like to give an example. The ladder has got three legs. I’ve never seen this type in Europe before. It has got advantages and disadvantages that’s for sure. If you’ve got enough space and the work you want to do is not too high up, this model will stand as solid as a rock. No danger of tilting at all.
Improvisieren muss man hier sowieso ständig. Heute auch wieder. Im Moment hat das Bohrgerät mal wieder Probleme. Der Antrieb eineer Kette versagt und es kommt nicht den Berg hoch. Tja so war also ein Schachspiel und Filme schauen angesagt. Beim Schach haben uns leider die Figuren gefehlt. Kiesel gab es aber genug 😉
To come up with new solutions different problems is pretty common here. Same happened today again. Since the rig is down at the moment because one of the tracks is not working and it can’t climb a hill we had to spend our time with a chess game and by watching movies. Since all the pieces for the game were lost we had the idea to use different gravel pieces and mark them with letters.
